I wrote this poem awhile ago but felt called to share it on here. I am planing to share more of my work that I created that I originally through was meant to be traditionally published but this space feels like a good space to put it out into the ether. I speak that the words reach who they were meant to reach.

our world is drowning in fear
fear of being hurt.
fear of being lonely.
fear of change.
fear of loss.
fear of inadequacy.
fear of the uncertain and unknown.
fear of failure.
fear of rejection.
fear of a Black mermaid
fear wears many costumes.
disguising itself as comfort
as perfectionism
as beliefs and a mindset
as busyness
as procrastination
a narcissistic chameleon.
we must uncover and overcome.
see, listen, and know the Black mermaid.
