CHANGES
by Marissa Morrow
Shaking spirit lends itself to hope
and I am present.
I am presence.
Present me as I Am.
What remains of their dusty theology?
A world that often forgets itself.
Who are you when Mother cries out in anguish?
I am Searching For What It Means To Be Alive.
Annotated notes of desperation
soak into yellowing pages;
language that feels awkward
on cracked and bleeding lips.
The oxygen of existence is thinning up here
yet I sit,
sharp edges
glued together
with intentionality,
heartbreak touched by humanity.
Charles and I sing
about going through Changes in our lives.
